The report states that at the end of the fiscal year 2023, the domestic debt of the government is 38 thousand 808 billion rupees, while the external debt of the government is 22 thousand 30 billion rupees.
According to the State Bank, in fiscal year 2023, $20.81 billion was spent on principal and interest payments, $16.39 billion was spent on principal payments and $4.42 billion was spent on interest.
According to the State Bank, government institutions paid 53.94 million dollars of loan principal in fiscal year 2023, government institutions paid 25.56 million dollars in interest in fiscal year 2023, banks paid 952 million dollars in interest in fiscal year, private The sector spent $1.11 billion on principal repayments in FY2023, while the private sector paid $758.1 million in interest in FY2023.
